When we see all those intricate, charming and stunningly creative and beautiful wedding cakes in all kinds of pictures we can’t ever imagine that we can do those cake designs at home, in our kitchens. Well, it’s true that most designer wedding cakes that we see in specialized magazines and online, in different websites are very hard to make with our own hands. We all know how expensive and pretentious most custom made or pre made wedding cakes can be and that is why most couples today are looking for ways and tips to reduce the wedding expenses as much as possible. And what better way to spend less money and still have a delicious and good looking wedding cake than making it at home. If you have some inborn basic skills in working with cakes, you should definitely try an easy homemade wedding cake. On the other hand, if you’re not talented at all in making or handling a cake, you should ask someone in your family – mother, sister, aunt or someone in your neighborhood who can face this challenge. Before you make any move towards making your own wedding cake, think about the final aspect of the cake and the taste of the cake.

Among the most affordable types of flavors and fillings that you can incorporate into your easy homemade wedding cake are vanilla, chocolate, butter cream, white cream, red velvet and fruit compotes, such as mango, coconut, orange, lime, cranberries, strawberries, blue berries, pineapples, kiwi, apples, pears, grapes or bananas. Fondant is hard to use and less tasty but the result is incredibly smooth, refined and soft, so it might be worth it.

You can buy edible pre made wedding cake decorations to ornate the cake just the way you want to. Buy flowers, bows, ribbons, ropes, bandanas, butterflies, stars, swags, stripes, pearls, beadings or any other decorative confections that can match your wedding theme and embellish the cake in your owns style. Most of these edible confections are made from fondant, butter cream, icing, sugar, gum paste, chocolate or marzipan. Choose the most suitable one for the texture of the cake.11
