If you are 38+ years old and you have finally found the man of your dreams and decide to get married, then, sorry to say it, you are part of the “older women” future-to-be-brides category. In these cases, some aspects do not concur with the normal standards of the, sort to say, young brides. With age, women gain weight, the waist doesn’t look so defined as it did in youth times, there are parts of the body that may need to be covered, but no more with these… We don’t want to make someone to loose confidence in herself! This is not our purpose here; it is only an underlining of some aspects that have to be taken into account when it comes to wedding gowns for older women.

The matter presents though some positive aspects: an older woman has more options to choose from when referred to her wedding dress – it can be a formal, or less formal dress, dress that is already part of your wardrobe, that dress which you use to wear at social events, two-pieces (pants suit or skirt and blouse) attire also works for this big event, not to mention that white gown is not that ‘mandatory’; it can be either ivory, lilac, light tint of blue, ecru, or cream. As to the fabrics older women can use silk and satin, but also other fabrics that looks equally nice and on top of all is cheaper. Anyway, before setting out to buy the dress the older brides need to consult their dressmaker or an expert in wedding gowns, to have a better look at the picture.
Selecting wedding gowns for older women involves also the perspective of finding an outfit to flatter the bride’s body, in order to ensure her wedding day the surprise element both for the guests and her groom.11
